Let’s give this a little try….

2015 started out with a serious bang….I quit my job. But overall, it was a good thing. I had to move on with what was a priority in life….my family. Working long days, not cooking dinner, grouchy husband and restless adult children, I had to give in and find a job that would best suit my needs as a mom and wife. But that didn’t mean to stay home (though I did for 8 days).

My recruiter found me a part-time position as a receptionist, paying more than what I was getting at my old job and I go in for 4.5 hrs. SWEET! I can still make breakfast every now and then for the guys in the morning and my daughter and I can talk a morning stroll at the Houston Arboretum. I am able to clean house, do laundry and take care of my husband’s social media for Mancave Toyz. I can brainstorm about cupcake ideas and much more. I know this is going to be a good thing.

This weekend, I am going to bake a bit for my family. I want to try out some new recipes and a friend of mine sent me some homemade toffee to try which will go into a cupcake. Though I am in the mood to bake Neapolitan Cupcakes by Cooking Classy . So, it just night happen and stay tuned this weekend for pics and an update.

Getting bake to baking has made my heart a bit happier. I am always excited to bring out the mixer and spatulas. So, if you like sweets, keep it here and you just might see more of them and I will share recipes from great bakers all around.

Have a safe weekend!

Day 4 – #21EarlyDays with JRose!

Day 4!! I woke up on time this morning (insert happy dance). I was determined last night to get up on time and get my day started. I fell asleep pretty quickly, I was exhausted. Yesterday was an emotional day for me and my family. So, this morning I baked..Margarita Cupcakes! Not for us, they are for a friend. Baking calmed me and gave me peace, yes at 5am there is lots of peace. I miss baking, and I know that I am good at what I do, but other priorities come first and baking will only be a hobby.

But aren’t this cute!

Margarita Cupcakes

I have had a cup of coffee, read and answered some emails, signed up for the NEDA (National Eating Disorder Association) walk in October, made my bed (I love making my bed in the mornings, but that’s another blog for later), laundry will be for later since I am working from home today and I can’t stop watching this AMAZING video by the Delta Sigma Phi at Transylvania University in Lexington, KY. LOVE IT!!

I hope everyone has a good Friday! Tomorrow is Day 5 and I am pumped!

Cheers, JRose!

Bridal taste testings…..

It’s SPRING here in H-town and what does that mean…SUMMER weddings! I had the pleasure of giving a bride a small taste test of my Wedding Cake Cupcake and the Almond Poppy Seed cupcake.

I added a small chocolate covered raspberry to the top to give a little extra kick. 🙂

The Almond Poppy Seed is more like a breakfast muffin and you can enjoy it with a very good cup of coffee. The Wedding Cake is just DELIGHTFUL! You can’t go wrong with white cake and buttercream frosting, it’s just so good I can eat more than 2!

I enjoy baking for my friends and whoever is interested in ordering, I am always here to help out. More posts to come as my baking skills improve. 🙂

Happy Holidays/Merry Christmas

This season was a family quiet one. I didn’t bake as much as usually do for the holidays, but I did bake some cute wreath frosted cupcakes. Image

Vanilla/Vanilla Frosted Wreath Cupcakes

I have never made these before and I gave it a shot! What do you think?

Being able to take time out for my family was very important to me. Our kids are young adults now and of course have their own lives and friends to be with, but making an Enchilada Dinner on Christmas night was a must for them to be here. We had cookies for dessert and little chocolate covered marshmallows for a SWEET treat.

Sugar Cookies and Peanut Butter Blossoms…..Santa’s favorite!

Chocolate Covered Marshmallows for the Hot Chocolate treat!

Twas’ the night before Christmas, I was able to finish my Christmas Wreath. Somehow, I had misplaced my hot glue gun and hadn’t had a chance to get another. But I was tired of looking at a naked wreath that I went to Target and bought the gun. I was pleased at the results, cause it’s a little country.

We all hope you had a great Christmas holiday with family, friends and loved ones.

Merry Christmas from our home to yours.

Memorial Day/Graduation!

It’s been a busy two weeks and I can say that I am ready for my youngest to graduate high school on Saturday! This kid has made me very proud to his momma. His senior year was a busy one, from being the school mascot to helping out with PALS (mentoring little kids). It was a fun one though, not at all boring. Though it is surreal that he is my last one to graduate, it’s surreal that I will have all three of kids in college. Yikes!

As promised I wanted to show you all the Memorial Day cupcakes I baked. This was fun and so easy.

Now for the graduate!!

He was nominated Homecoming King. He didn’t win, but in our eyes he was KING!

Now all three of our children are adults. Words can’t describe how proud I am to be their mother.

God Bless all those who have graduates this year. You did a great job!

Margarita Summertime Cupcakes!!!

Actually, these are good anytime! I always have fun cooking with alcohol and these are so tasty, light and not too sweet. The hint of lime, tequila and salt are a great combination for this cupcake.

I had the pleasure of baking these yesterday for a friend of mine who has started her Arbonne business and I must say they were a hit! I just love baking for friends and meeting new people with my cupcakes.

Presentation is always a must for me. I love dressing up my packages, big or small.

I hope you all have a great summer!

Stay tuned for my patriotic cupcakes I am baking today for Memorial Day.

Graduation approaches with CUPCAKES!

Graduation is just sneaking up on us! I was very happy to bake some wonderful homemade chocolate cupcakes with lemon buttercream frosting for two of my favorite students.

The little gold balls are edible and the frosting hinted the taste of lemon that made it refreshing to the taste buds. 🙂

This is my son, Alex. He graduates on June 8th from Jersey Village High School. This school year has been filled with many exciting things and I am actually going to miss it.

My daughter captured this photo a few months ago as he was thanking me for being his mom and loving him unconditionally.
